Can Claude help with HMRC tax submissions and Making Tax Digital?

Claude Co-worker Skills can prepare VAT return drafts, flag MTD-compliance gaps, and assemble Self Assessment supporting documents from your Sage, Xero or FreeAgent data. Crucially, Claude does the preparation work — you (or your accountant) review and submit. Nothing is filed without explicit human approval.

This is the same human-in-the-loop pattern Anthropic uses for invoice and payment workflows: Claude pulls the data, drafts the return, flags exceptions, and queues it for you to approve. UK HMRC filings are too high-stakes to automate without a human signature, and we won't deploy a Skill that bypasses that.
